Day 6: August 6th, 2010

I slept much better last night. It took me hours to get there but my music helped. Or did it? It just made me think of home and how much I miss 80's night with my friends, but it also reminded me that I have one lucky, beautiful, and exciting life. The thought crossed my mind that I wanted to go back home, but I know that this experience with build character, test me. Challenges force you to get to know yourself, it is true. I am being shaped as I write this very entry.
Maybe.

These kids play soccer at 7:30 in the morning.
We were informed that usually everybody plays beisbol, but they were watching the World Cup recently and are now super interested.

Alice sighed wearily. "I think you might do something better with the time," she said, "than wasting it in asking riddles that have no answers." "If you knew Time as well as I do," said the Hatter, "you wouldn't talk about wasting it. It's him."
"I don't know what you mean," said Alice. "Of course you don't!" the Hatter said, tossing his head contemptuously. "I dare say you never even spoke to Time!"
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, 1865

The high school kid that lives here like Elton John, haha. They just played 3 songs in a row. There were more worldly songs though- with horns and what seemed like a marimba. Maybe that's why he likes him, not necessarily for what he was to us in the States... maybe he knows that history, maybe not.

7:12 pm.
How badly do I want carrot cake right now? You don't want to know. This te de naranja is so sweet it makes me want dessert. Really really bad. But sometimes there is nothing like a cup of tea at just the right time of day, in the perfect moment.
...Just listening to conversation and enjoying it. I only understand half of it, but it is still beautiful to hear. I just realized that I haven't looked in a mirror once today. Tis a strange feeling.
Tina made a pasta dish. I loved it and actually ate it. Why? Because it was similar to our pasta in the States! I think she figured out that I can't really eat any more tortillas because she didn't give me one for dinner with my pasta- but everyone else had one. She also let me sirve myself this time, too, because I never finish her portions! Haha. "?Se Sirve?"

8:30 pm.
The spider has disappeared.
It worries me.
Buenas noches.
