Day 5: August 5th, 2010

Not much sleep again last night. The roosters "woke" me up around 6:15 a.m., but I hadn't been sleeping. I got up, got dressed, checked the time and went right back to bed. Slept for an hour and a half; now it's 8:15 a.m. and I'm eating breakfast. She made me una tortilla (which I think she told me about how it's made from corn) y la sandia. Me encanta el cafe on mornings like this.
I'm tired of scratching like crazy. La musica on el radio is very beautiful. Que bonita muscia! I'm used to hearing La Grande in West Valley with all upbeat tempos and horns... but these songs are more about love <3.
I am ecstatic to go to Achuapa today, to get out for awhile. This radio station has the disco song from the Dick soundtrack in the background of the adds. Pretty funny.
The phrase "me duele" makes sense to me now. Like Selena's "Como Me Duele" - "How do I feel?"
I'm writing about nothing to pass time.

Achuapa was hot!
But I had two Pepsis while there with REAL sugar! :)
They do not refrigerate as much as we do, and not as strongly as we do (I feel), pero esta bien. Less energy. And the truck ride there and back was very interesting. 15 people in the back of an open jeep? With benches and a gate all around to hold on to, and to keep us in. Lucy said the condition of the roads is awesome now, but they seem really bad to me. I'm just used to a little dirt here and there. These are beyond potholes. It made the ride to and from extra crowded, haha.

...Decided today that I want to make a blog of my time here when I get back. Since I do not live with my family and emailing pictures goes only so far, a blog will be a great way to invite everyone in.
Facebook link as well :).

Buenas noches, arana
I'm going to try music tonight, to help me sleep.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Jill and Lucy walking in Achuapa

Purchasing my first Pepsi in the country made with REAL sugar
It was delicious!!

Washing my clothes in the pila
Hangin' em out to dry... in rainy season.
And look! I said I wouldn't do it, but I did!
I hung my undies out to dry, too.
