So after several hours in the nearest hotel to San Salvador, El Salvador airport killing time because of a silly flight change, I am finally here. I am sleep deprived as all hell, but completely excited nonetheless. Luis, the driver, drove me from Managua airport to Esteli, bout 2 hours away. The scenery is incredible. I hope these images are sealed in my brain. People roam the streets right on the edge- inches away from getting hit. The goats and cows walk the same line, grazing causally. Luis said it's because the owners don't own any land- so near the roads is where they graze. He also said if I helped him with English he would help me with Spanish. I spoke foreign, he spoke some foreign. We made a good team.
Dinner was delicious! And I had pollo! With avocado, rice, re fried beans (fried only once it seemed), and the most delicious potatoes EVER. Oh, and una cerveza ;).
Tomorrow we'll go to the market for veggies, then travel to el Lagartillo.
Can't wait to begin!
"Everybody says 'come on!' here," thought Alice, "I never was so ordered about before, in all my life, never!"
